Corn and soybeans have been genetically modified for years and years now. Alot of the reasoning behind genetic modifying has to do with creating plants that will grow in otherwise poor conditions, and to battle diseases to the plants that would otherwise kill it. I think there are a lot of misunderstandings about gmo foods, and there's a lot to still be researched on them.
