Go to other coffee shops and you will find many of the same terms: espresso, mochas, lattes, macchatos...they are all there. starbucks didn't make up most of those terms as they are true coffee terms.

If you want to speak "american," how about you go grab a cup of nasty coffee at mcdonald's? you deserve a cup of coffee that is as uncultured as you.

Yes. Odd thing to be curious or upset about. I think it's a bit of an affectation myself, but apparently the owner of the company wanted to pay tribute to Italy by giving the drink sizes Italian-esque names. (venti, grande...) The other names are what the drinks are and are Italian - just as they have been for years around the world. Should they call a cappuccino something different? Why?

Starbucks isn't a bad company by the way. They have very ethical and green business practises, pay their people well and offer healthcare. Popular doesn't always equal bad or greedy. I wish other companies would follow their example.

It's just coffee, it doesn't require that you take a stand - go inside one.

Its not only Starbucks that uses the term "latte" its any coffee shop that sells espresso-unfortunately these terms might be alien talk to the lazy being that supports the dollar menu at Mcdonalds.

If your willing to spend 3,4 bucks on a drink then start off with a green tea latte or a chai tea latte <these are hot drinks
If you want a cold drink get a "grande green tea frappuccino"
