Good way to cook mushrooms and baby onions?
Whats the best way to cook mushrooms and baby onions? I would like them soft like grilled onions, but i want the onions whole. Any ideas for a novice chef? hahaha
There are some answers for your reference as below, you can choose your best answers
place the rinsed and stemmed mushrooms and onions in a large piece of heavy duty aluminum foil. add a desired ammount of butter and salt and pepper If you like spices you could add some thyme or sage or whatever you like. Carefully seal the foil pouch and place it in a 475 degree oven for fourty minuets flipping once. You can also do this on your grill and serve with stake or chicken. I find that simplicity is best. When I serve mushrooms this way there are never any left. They steam in their own juices and come out cooked but firm. Not at all mushy. If you like you can add other hard veggires like small red potatoes carrots etc. bon apetite.
Saute in a nonstick skillet in a combo of olive oil and butter, about a Tbsp or so of each. Start w/ onions, since they'll take longest. Saute over med heat, add a couple pinches salt to them, and cook until they begin to caramelize (turn golden). Add in sliced mushrooms and a dash of salt, and some black pepper. When tender, both should be ready. If you like, you can deglaze the pan and have a bit of sauce to go w/ them by using a ?-? cup of any red wine. Add to hot skillet, scrape up cooked on bits, then pour it all into serving dish. Oh, if you have it, add a bit of dry thyme (? tsp or less) to the onions as well.
saute in butter and then declaise with a small amount of red wine.
saute in butter till al dente' splash with a little worshirshire sauce, you can use whole onions just get small ones and cook a little longer then add the mushrooms
melt 3T butter over LOW heat, add 1 t salt and onions...cook until onions slightly caramelize...then add mushrooms..cook until the mushrooms give off moisture, and wilt ....remove mushrooms and onions....add 1/2 cup broth....turn up to high and reduce by half....return the mushrooms and onions to the pan...remove from heat .and use as you wish.
deep fried in Italian breadcrumb (egg wash) or bake it in the oven for 30 minutes with olive oil and italian seasonong; topped with melted cheese
