Why is there a expiration date on bottled water?

haha i always wondered..
There are some answers for your reference as below, you can choose your best answers

Even water can go stale eventually. The plastic starts to break down and it can affect the taste of the water. And it could leach chemicals into the water as well. You should only drink bottled SPRING water (not purified, which is just tap water run through a filter) and only in clear, not those cloudy containers.

omg there is?? i never noticed, thats creppy lol :)

Eventhough the water is contained in a bottle, sitting water can hold lots of bacteria.

Its also there so that just in case the water has something wrong when a person drinks it, the company can eliminate themselves from lawsuits by proving the products freshness.

It is just for inventory rotation...

Water doesn't go bad unless it is already contaminated... Which is HIGHLY LIKELY since it is only regulated by the FDA and NOT both the FDA AND the EPA as Tap Water is.
