Will I get in trouble for buying Absinthe online?

I always wanted to try Absinthe, but there's a problem since I live in the United States (where It's illegal).
I found a website that ships from Germany to the United States. I'm afraid that when it goes through customs or something I might get caught.. Or, it could get to me with no problem at all.. I really really want to try it, but don't want to go to jail...
Does anyone know what might happen? The worst? Any opinions?
There are some answers for your reference as below, you can choose your best answers

You are allowed to have absinthe. You can buy it and have it shipped to you. You can buy it overseas and bring it in to the us in your baggages. Its only illegal to sell. But you can have it in your house. You can sit on your porch and drink it and a cop could walk by and he cant say anything.

I think the rules have changed slightly. Absinthe cannot be sold in US stores, however you can possess it for home use, I believe.

There are plenty of sources to buy (from outside the US) on the net.

Only if you're underage and live in a state regulated by a liquor control board. You will have to give identification when it comes.

Absinthe is now legal in some states, however you'd be hard pressed to find the original recipe Absinthe with the woodworm extract
